A Space for Religion frames Orthodox churches within their natural surroundings in and around Lviv, Ukraine. The series explores the churches’ distinctive architecture in contrast with the landscapes they inhabit, considering how religious belief finds physical expression in the spaces built to serve it.

As if spaceships had landed in an unfamiliar landscape, the churches appear strangely detached from their environment, their eccentric architecture creating a sense of otherworldliness.

Set within predominantly empty landscapes, the churches appear both connected to and estranged from their surroundings. This tension invites reflection on the relationship between religious communities and the natural world, questioning how we construct spaces for belief and how these spaces shape our ethical and spiritual relationship with the world around us.
